IDS Scheer Teams with PMOLink and the University of New Orleans to Create Business Process Competency Based on the ARIS Framework

This Partnership Reinforces the State’s Initiative to Make Louisiana a “Learning Enterprise” and Fosters Innovation in the UNO Research and Technology Park

Berwyn, PA (March 25, 2003)
IDS Scheer, Inc., the leading provider of business process excellence services and tools, today announced that it has teamed with PMOLink, Inc, and the University of New Orleans (UNO) to create a business process competency that is based on the ARIS (ARchitecture of Integrated Information Systems) framework. Additionally, the ARIS framework and ARIS process modeling software will be part of UNO’s curriculum, specifically within the Engineering Management Program.

IDS Scheer and PMOLink have been working with UNO to introduce the ARIS methodology and software tools, which are widely recognized as the leading conceptual solutions for designing, implementing and improving business processes, into a series of courses offered at the university. UNO’s faculty is currently undergoing training on ARIS and plans to roll-out curriculum for the School of Engineering in the Fall of 2003.

This partnership reinforces the Louisiana Economic Development Council’s “Louisiana: Vision 2020” initiative, which underscores the importance of creating and positioning the state as a “Learning Enterprise,” making it a rich, diverse, complex organism in which all businesses, institutions, and citizens are actively engaged in the pursuit of knowledge.

“IDS Scheer understands the importance of a university’s role in fostering education and innovation,” explained Dr. Mathias Kirchmer, President and CEO of IDS Scheer, Inc. “Our company was founded on this principal and we thrive on empowering universities and educational institutions to create an organic environment for students and businesses to benefit from this process. We are pleased to team with PMOLink and the University of New Orleans and make the ARIS a catalyst for growth and enrichment.”

Dr. Kirchmer is a respected author, educator and speaker known internationally as an expert in business process management. He is the author of numerous publications, a faculty member of the University of Pennsylvania, and a regular lecturer at Widener University, University of Southern California, and George Mason University.

“IDS Scheer’s products and business process methodology have traditionally come from research and development efforts coordinated with universities,” explained Geoff Hingle, CEO of PMOLink. “The UNO Research and Technology Park provides an ideal environment for such a partnership, and we believe the Greater New Orleans area can benefit from IDS Scheer’s expertise and presence in our community. For our part, PMOLink will work closely with UNO to provide support with our local ARIS practical expertise and to employ trained graduates to meet our clients’ needs.”

“This partnership will not only benefit the university community, but the business and technology community as well. With IDS Scheer and PMOLink, the University’s Research and Technology Park has partnered with business leaders that could spawn innovation in the industry, as well as help the University in its academic mission,” said University of New Orleans Chancellor Gregory M. St. L. O’Brien.
